Working meeting of project management and implementation teams

On June 21, 2016 at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food was held a Working meeting of project management and implementation teams of FOR OUR FUTURE project.

Opening speech made by Eng. Krasimir Kamenov, Deputy Executive Director of EFA and project manager of FOR OUR FUTURE project briefly presented the significant of the project and EFA’s responsibilities. Mr. Kamenov underlined that due to the tight deadlines experts had to work hard, especially those responsible for implementation of activities 3.1: Data verification and 3.2: Mapping of the ecosystem services according approved by MOEW Methodology.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Eng. Ljubcho Trichkov, coordinator of the project, Denitsa Pandeva – Director of PIA Directorate, a representative of MetEcoSMap project, key experts from EFA responsible for mapping and assessment of forest ecosystems and ecosystem services, directors, deputy directors, experts from the Regional Directorates of Forestry - experts "Forest databases”, directors and employees Forest protection station.

Dr. Eng. Ljubcho Trichkov,  Maria Belovarska - expert, Eng. Georgy Tinchev – GIS expert, and Petya Slavchevska- technical assistant presented the current status and specifics of the project activities, the methodology for evaluation and mapping of the state of forests and forest ecosystems, establishment of a national layer "Forests outside Natura 2000 Network", as well as updated report information.

In addition were given practical explanations followed by a discussion about issues related to the process of mapping and assessment of the state of forest ecosystems and their services, verification of the forest databases, etc. following decisions were taken:

  1. Project management and implementation teams had to present to regional experts an electronically forest database created by national layer "Forests outside Natura 2000 Network". The aim is to be determined the subdivision that would be checked at RDF level;
  2. Shaping uniform checklists used to verify the data in the office and during fieldwork;
  3. Filling in and sending electronically the necessary data to determine the regulating and cultural ecosystems from forest ecosystems;
  4. Conduction of a training aiming to increase capacity and uniformity of work approach as soon as possible.
